just to make it crystal clear - i'm not complaining, i was just curious how GTK works ;) Prismo does not supports attachments just yet.
hmm that's super weird. Will investigate that soon.
Anyway, back to GTK - is the GTK 4 feeling more "native" from macos user perspective? I mean, trying to use inkscape on macos was a pretty bad experience. Some additional libs needed to be installed, inkscape looked a bit awkwardly, a lot of exceptions encountered.
Pardon my ignorance, i have no knowledge of desktop apps development :)
so macos support is gonna be similar to the inkscape one, no?
i hope it will be avaiable for MacOS 🤞🤞🤞
i would love to contribute but that's not gonna happen in next ~999 years
true that, but i can actually imagine instance admins doing that :) That would just be a part of process of hosting their prismo instance
that's true but, on the other hand, we can (sadly) see a rise of electron-based desktop apps which are a huge performance killers but still people develop and use them on a daily basis
i have absolutely no knowledge about PWA but will definitely research this :) i think that's pretty neat
oh and btw smartass, you're the first one to try out brand new Prismo feature called silencing/suspending. Thank you for your engagement! Prismo would be nothing without volunteers willing to help 💖
woah, that was damn funny, i almost died laughing
i've tried a different approach. For me, the biggest distraction was obviously Facebook and Messenger. They were constantly spamming me with useless notifications i didn't want to see. What's more - the less i used both apps, the more spammy notifications they've been sending.
So, one day, i decided to remove them and install the lo-fi versions of these both (they are called Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite) and my life drastically changed. These both apps are missing all the bloat (or most of it), are way uglier (which is an important factor for me) and works far worse. These all things made me use them a lot more and actually my time spent on them has been reduced to like...1 minute per day? There are also days when i forget to charge my phone and it lays dead for 2 days untill my mum calls my girlfriend and asks her to tell me to charge my phone haha.
One might say "don't like facebook/messenger? remove it then" - i can't really do that, all my friends are using it and i need to stay in contact with them. But using the "hack" described above at least made me quit the unhealthy addiction of wasting my time on these.
can you proivde any evidence? :)
holy smokes that's hella impressive
isn't XMPP such an alternative? I'd love it to be but, from my perspective, it lacks a nice-looking mobile client (does it?) and more catchy/non-nerdy name. At least more catchy for a "normal" user. It used to be called Jabber but i can barely see that word anywhere nowdays
interesting lecture, thanks for sharing! i was not even aware of such problems
woah nice one
be my guest!
